Fallsome Oatmeal

I know many people to prefer instant oats because they feel it is fast. Yes, 1:30 in the microwave is faster than about five minutes on the stove but (having gone from instant to home cooked) I can tell you instant is nowhere near better. Though home cooked needs to be stirred regularly, it is something you can leave on the stove for a couple minutes to get other morning things accomplished (if, like me, you must feed the cats before they trip you.)
This recipe is fast and marvelous. Oatmeal is high in protein, which your body needs, especially first thing in the morning. Bananas are high in natural sugars which your body needs when you wake up to help kick start your system and regulate insulin levels. Pecans bring more protein on board and a small helping of healthy fats. Honey is incredibly good for you.  If is it raw and local it can do wonders for seasonal allergies. Cinnamon is known for anti-bacterial properties and generally being fabulous for your health and taste buds.
I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Fall Oatmeal
Ingredients:
½ cup Old Fashion oats
½ cup almond milk (or preferred nondairy milk)
1 banana, pealed
¼ pecans
Cinnamon to taste
Drizzle raw local honey

1.       Put both oatmeal and almond milk in a small sauce pan and cook on low. Stir occasionally to keep from sticking. Cook until the milk is absorbed and the oatmeal is tender.
2.       Poor the oatmeal into a bowl then garnish with the other ingredients.
a.       I personally like to mash up the banana or cut it into really small pieces so I get a little banana in each bite.
3.       Enjoy! Go conquer your day knowing you have been nourished.
